Detailed look at Fabric.so

I decided to try Fabric.so after seeing it mentioned as an alternative to Obsidian. Ordering the standard plan was straightforward through their website; I just picked the monthly option to start. Access to all features like the AI Canvas and knowledge graph was immediate. I found the AI Assistant particularly helpful for summarizing articles I clipped. The interface for file organization is clean, though it took a little getting used to compared to my old system. I had one question about integrating with cloud storage, and their support team responded within a few hours with a clear explanation. Data privacy was also a concern, but their FAQs address it well. Overall, it's a robust research workspace, and the semantic search is surprisingly powerful for digging through my notes. The web clipper worked perfectly on articles and PDFs. Definitely seeing potential here for my long-term projects.

Reliable workspace, as always

I've been using Fabric for a while now for my research projects, and this latest purchase of the annual team plan was smooth. The AI Canvas and knowledge graph are still top-notch. Delivery (access to the features) was instant, just like my previous upgrades. It's consistent, which is why I keep coming back. My team found the shared workspace easy to get into.

Good value with annual plan

I was looking for a new research workspace and found Fabric. I went for the annual billing to save 20%, which was a good deal. The free trial let me test out the AI Assistant and smart notes first, which helped me decide. It felt like a solid investment for the features I got, especially compared to some others I looked at. The value for money was definitely there.

Mostly good, needs mobile app

I bought the individual plan for my personal 'second brain' setup. The file organization and personal AI search are really strong, made finding old notes super easy. Customer service was quick when I had a question about PDF annotation. My only real gripe is the lack of a dedicated mobile app; accessing it on my phone browser is okay, but not ideal when I'm out and about. Still, a solid tool overall and a good alternative to Notion.

Absolutely love Fabric!

Fabric.so is incredible! The web clipper changed how I do research, and the creative moodboards are fantastic for my design work. Everything is so intuitive. I upgraded to the annual plan and it was the best decision. I'm telling all my colleagues about this for their project management. This platform genuinely makes my work easier!

anyone got an invite code for early access? really want to try this out.

N Nick C. 1 month ago
They had an early access program, but I think it's mostly open now. You might just be able to sign up directly or get a free trial.

The early access might be over, but you can always check their social media or sign up for their newsletter. Sometimes they send out invites there.

My team is considering this for our shared notes and project stuff. How good is the collaboration aspect?

M Marcus Q. 1 month ago
Pretty solid for collaboration. You can share documents, canvases, and even work together in real-time. We use it for brainstorming and project outlines.

It's decent. Not as full-on project management as something like Asana, but for shared notes and building out ideas together, it works well. The digital canvas is cool for team moodboards.

does fabric so ever do like, black friday sales or anything? waiting for a good deal to jump in.

N Nina Z. 2 months ago
Not really traditional sales. They mostly push the annual billing discount, which is 20% off already. Or if you get a referral code from someone.

J James R. 2 months ago
I haven't seen a Black Friday deal specifically. Their main thing is referral bonuses or the annual plan discount. They do have educator and student discounts too if that applies.

hey, was wondering if anyone knows if there's like a free version of Fabric? wanna try it out but not ready to commit.

T Troy T. 2 months ago
Yeah, they have a free trial. You gotta sign up for it, but it lets you test out most of the features for a bit.

D David 2 months ago
No free *version* per se, but the trial is pretty good for getting a feel for it. I think it's for a limited time though, not forever.

I heard something about a referral bonus. How does that work? Can I get money off if I refer a friend?

S Sarah Romero 2 months ago
Yep, they have a referral system. You get some kind of credit or discount if you refer someone who signs up. It's a good way to save.

S Steve Silva 2 months ago
It's usually credits towards your subscription or a direct discount. Your friend also gets a benefit when they sign up with your link. I think it's one of their main 'coupon' type deals.

Is it easy to get your data out of Fabric if you decide to leave? Don't want my notes trapped.

J Julia Kim 1 month ago
Yeah, you can export your notes. I think it's mostly markdown or PDF, so pretty standard.
2
K Kevin 1 month ago
They mention export options in their FAQs. I haven't done it myself, but it's a stated feature, so your data shouldn't be locked in.

I'm a student, is there any way to get a discount on this?

A Andre T. 2 months ago
Yep, they totally have a student discount. Check their site, I think you just need to verify your student status.

My buddy got a student discount, so it's definitely a thing. Just poke around their pricing page or contact support for the details on how to apply.

Does Fabric support like, all kinds of files? I deal with a lot of weird formats for my research.

R Rosa A. 2 months ago
It handles common stuff like PDFs, images, web links easily. For 'weird' formats, it might depend. It's best with text-heavy docs and visuals.

I Ivy Brooks 2 months ago
PDFs and images are great, and the web clipper is super useful. For really niche file types, you might have to convert them or just link to them. It's not like a universal file viewer for everything.
